I got the wonderful opportunity to partner with the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and KC Parks and Recreation to create the branding for the event The Big Picnic. Francisco Carerra and I partnered up for the project, while he focused majorly on illustrating the map, I focused on the typography and all around feeling of the branding. We needed to create a friendly environment, with something fun for the kids, while also not taking away from the rest of the event. The masks are in homage to the Four Seasons sculptures by Philip Haas that are on the Nelson's lawn until October 2015. These are sculptures made of huge fiber glass fruits and vegetables. My family and I set up a picnic blanket with some beers and some nice cheeses, and watched the event unravel.
